    Craigslist. It’s heavily utilized for rentals in the area. I’ve used it both to find a place to live, and to rent a place out. Look under sublets/temporary, or shared housing, to have the best chance of someone willing to rent short term. There are lot of young adults in group homes who are always looking to replace someone, and interns who come to the area for about a 3 month time frame. Your situation isn’t much different, you shouldn’t have much problem finding something.

    My wife’s shop’s head mechanic just spent most of February solo touring in southern Mexico. You should stop by on your way from Baltimore to DC for talk story! They’re right off the best route. -Jeff

    Thanks I have been looking there, what I really need to know is what areas I should be looking in and which to stay away from so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Mahalo Jimmy

    As a rule of thumb, the Capital Bikeshare stations tend to be clustered in areas that are good for cycling in DC and Arlington. There are also several awesome longer-distance bike trails in the DC area: The capital crescent trail from Bethesda Maryland to Georgetown in DC, the mount vernon trail from Alexandria to DC, the Custis/W&OD/4mile run trails in VA; and the Anacostia Tributary Trails in Maryland, which branch out generally from NE DC toward Baltimore. The Met Branch trail in DC is a nice connector between the Brookland/Catholic University area and downtown, and is also a helpful trail for cyclists to access out through the neighborhoods of NE DC to get to the Anacostia Tributary Trails.

    Good luck with your travels. Welcome to the forum and the area in advance.

    I can’t really help too much with lodging information beyond what has already been said. Craigslist is probably your best bet for short-term places to live.

    What kind of riding do you do? There are plenty of people here who are avid mountain, road and touring/randonneuring cyclists who talk about their riding daily. There’s a ton of info from people who ride bicycles as their main mode of transportation.

    If you’re looking for mountain biking info, there’s a very active IMBA club in the DC area and tons of information about local trails.

    Road riding info can be found many places. RideWithGPS.com is a great source for routes. There are local clubs and teams that ride every weekend and hold training rides during the week. If that’s to your interest, let me know, I can point you to them.
