are these 24 hour access? Should the local bike shops be on here?

I added Freshbikes, RevCycles, City Bikes, and Bicycle Space. All the gas stations I’ve used in this area charge at least $1 and you have to have quarters 😡

Edit: Also added the W&OD rest top between Lee Hwy and Little Falls St.

Be very careful putting air in with a powered pump! They work fast. If the pump has no meter, or a meter for low-pressure car tires, you don’t know when you’ve got too much. You can be riding along on the Mt. Vernon trail on your way to work shortly after filling up and then hear a strange rubbing sound and look down and see your tire bulging, and then hear it explode just as you’re desperately reaching down to the valve to let some air out to correct your horrible mistake. Don’t ask me how I know this.

The Bike Lane (Reston), Bike@Vienna, Spokes (Vienna), and Bikenetic all added.

Should it also be noted that gas stations probably won’t have the attachments for presta valve stems. Right?

    That’s a dead certainty.

I tossed in the Bike Rack on Q (up by 14th). I’ve used it probably a half dozen times as it’s easy for me to loop up to it and circle back around for work. The map could be very helpful with persuading folks for bike to work day. Now, if we could just get one on MVT by airport and maybe one south of OT then I would take my pump off my bike figuring I could walk it to them.

Learned my lesson when I was 12, scooter & gas station pump, face full if chalk and ringing in my ears.

I don’t. I carry a full bike pump. Because you can be riding along on the Mt. Vernon trail on your way to work shortly after filling up and then hear a strange rubbing sound and look down and see your tire bulging, and then hear it explode just as you’re desperately reaching down to the valve to let some air out to correct your horrible mistake.

I carry a pump also. But I also carry an adapter, because if I have a pump problem and the other guy’s pump only has a shraeder… You’re only paranoid if murphy isn’t out to get you, and the adapter is like the size of a tic tac.

Found this video – looks like the bubble ripped up his rim and ruined his wheel!

Good point! I’ll go put an adapter in my bag right now.

His brake ruined his rim, the tire/tube were innocent bystanders.
