Thanks! As useful as this forum is, I have to say that it is often difficult to find things, especially when they end up in the mega-threads. I surveyed the new posts as of this morning (and swear I even checked that thread) but didn’t find anything…anyhow sorry for the double post.
Though I think that is a legitimate public service point – if there’s something that’s a big deal or potential danger, I think it deserves its own thread! Don’t bury it…threads are free, you know? I’ll get off the soapbox now.

ParticipantPoint taken, although I saw it as a curiosity rather than a major obstacle or newsworthy. The cyclists I saw while fiddling with my camera just lifted their bikes over it. There was broken glass, otherwise I would say it was even rideable if you are the sort that likes to ride over tree roots and stumps and stuff.
But I will start a new thread for such things in the future. Thanks.

ParticipantThese two huge metal objects have been on the pedestrian walkway of key bridge for the past couple of weeks. On the inbound side. Looks like house siding.

ParticipantDid you report it to DDOT?
February 19, 2013 at 5:46 pm #962863jnva
ParticipantNo, don’t they read this blog?

ParticipantI clicked that ddot link but its not obvious to me what I’m supposed to do to report this. I’m not going to call anyone because the last thing I need is to be put on hold and explain over and over why I’m calling. The picture should explain everything.

Their email, facebook, and twitter are listed on the left hand side if you don’t want to call.

ParticipantOk I sent a tweet. So that counts as reporting it right? Do I get points for that?

Of course! But points are made up and meaningless on the internet, unless we’re talking Strava…

I started a thread on this same thing last week. I emailed them and never got a response. Maybe a public twitter shaming would help but I don’t do twitter and am not about to start.

Also, twitter works well if you have that.
Try DC’s 311 page, where you can submit service requests for a wide variety of issues, one of which is “Bicycle Issues”.
Please use this service request type to report bicycles issues including abandon bikes, bike ramps, bike lanes and bike racks. Abandoned bikes are those parked with rusted chains or missing parts. Once investigated, bicycles will be tagged with red/white stickers. The owner has 10 days to move or claim the bike before they are removed.

Participant@DDOTDC is – well was – very responsive. The person in charge of the account I think moved on. But anyway, DDOTDC has a great track record. I did send them a tweet.
And they replied:” thank you for your message here – we will address this “
