Westmoreland has bike lanes off and on, with sharrows to fill in the gaps. I find it to be a nice route to run from the W&OD up into McLean. Old Dominion has a bike lane for a bit, but it kinda leaves you in the middle of nowhere, infrastructure-wise. Georgetown Pike has a walking path from 123 to the Beltway and it’s usually empty, but it’s not something I’d ride on just to ride. I am with you though, traveling from ArlCo into FFX is like night and day, from a cycling perspective.

    Hey Lord,
To make that ride slightly better, turn right off Annandale on Kerns, go to Sleepy Hollow and ride up to 7 Corners that way–better than along 50. Then if you like, you can cut over to Castle, cross Rte 7 at the light and through the shopping mall parking lot to cross 50 on the ped/bike overpass.

Lawyer’s road has some, and you’ll find some others scattered about, but there’s definitely not a lot of them. There should be more once/if the master plan is approved, because then VDOT will know where to put them as they restripe things.

Reston – Lawyers Rd from Fox Mill to just east of Myrtle Ln. Herndon – Dranesville Rd from Rt 7 south to Bennet St (Herndon High School).
