ParticipantI may not be there this week. Too many Friday meetings.

ParticipantFriday Coffee Club is pretty reliable. I don’t bother to check anymore if people say they’re coming (though it’s only a mile or so out of my way, might be a bigger deal for you). I expect to be there from 830-9 or so.

Participant😡 Beware the grumpy guy in the D. vest yelling at you about where you park your bikes 😡
BTW I am now on the early shift, and will open the joint, if anyone wants to arrive at 7. Otherwise I will pretend to work.

D dot dude should watch out, after the week I’ve had I will either punch him or cry. Possibly both.
I’m going to try to get there early since I have to be at work at 8:30

ParticipantWhat is the D. guy upset about? Is there a good place to park bikes there?
September 13, 2012 at 3:02 pm #951032rcannon100
ParticipantI think he was upset that we werent paying him enuf attention.
There is plenty of space. But you know how it goes. Guy got a new brompton last week and was participating in the show-and-tell portion of the program.

D. guy is most definitely not with D.
Its just some guy (could be homeless?) who has a D. vest who got riled up last week when we were seated a little too far out into the path of the people who use the cut-through to get to work.
We probably weren’t seated in the best configuration, but we weren’t blocking anyone’s path.If you show up early and want to sit outside, there’s usually a long line of tables situated in-line and behind a sign that keeps us from blocking the ped-path. This streetview image shows it – its the sign that says Liberty Plaza on top: http://goo.gl/maps/IdeeQ If the tables aren’t lined up behind it, then it may be worth moving one or two of the square tables there. The round tables (up against the wall at Swings) are tougher to arrange for a lot of people. We were seated where the woman in the yellow shirt is in the StreetView image.
As for bike parking, there used to be a lockable rail right in front of swings, but its since fallen off the brick ledge. Plenty of parking meters and some space up against the wall and limited space up against the planters (read: security bollards). We’ve joked about asking WABA for bike valet-parking…

ParticipantHas anyone tried the WABA request form to put in bike racks in front of Swings?

ParticipantDDOT man is harmless. He was fuming as soon as someone sat down. I think we need to buy him a donut. (The last thing he needs is caffeine.)
The round tables make for easier interaction amount the group. (When we are inside we stand around tall but small diameter round tables. ) Sometimes we sit along a bunch of rectangular tables. It limits the flow of conversation somewhat.
Bottom line: Coffee’s good. People are nice. The vibe is fun. Come and enjoy.
