Connecting from C&O to Fairfax Connector Trail at Great Falls?

    Hi,

    I want to try out the fairfax conector trail for the first time on my mountain bike and make a day of it. Does anyone know if it is possible to connect from the C&O trail to the fairfax connector at great falls? Is there a way to get over the potomac to the virginia side?

    Unless you have your own boat, there is no Potomac River crossing for bicycles between Chain Bridge and White’s Ferry near Leesburg.

    What Consularrider said… There isn’t a crossing for bicycles between Whites Ferry (just north of Leesburg, VA) and Chain Bridge (in North Arlington). I use both routes often, but neither is really convenient to get you to the Fairfax Cross County Trail. The CCT is between 18 and 20 miles from either of those crossings on the Washington and Old Dominion trail. Great Falls would be another 8 or 9 miles from there.
