This morning on the MVT I was passed within inches without warning by a guy in a white polka dot jersey on a mountain bike with light colored tires. He was apparently trying to set a PR for his ride to work. Dude, you nearly hit me. If you want to race go to Hains Point. At a minimum give a warning before you pass and a few feet of space to the people you are overtaking.

definitely a missed connection! Glad it all turned out OK. This is why I’m strongly considering those spikey knives attached to my hubs, Mad Max style.

I passed that polka dot guy this morning, he was headding west on the MVT toward Rosslyn, I east toward the 14th street bridge. I passed him on the humpback bridge, he had just performed a “perfect” 3 inch pass on a poor unsuspecting older woman on a cruiser bike, He looked back at her after passing her and then turned forward with the biggest smile on his face as I then passed him. Made me think he had been trailing granny for the last few miles and finally kicked it up a notch to pass her on the “steep hill” leading to the humpback. I looked over at Granny, she was not impressed.

Sounds like someone should post this on the “real” Missed Connections on Craigslist, maybe the fool or someone he knows will see it. Not that he’d maybe care if he was being so reckless that he didn’t care if he killed an old lady, but he should still be called out.
