Hains Point Water Park :)

Anyone else ride Hains Point yesterday evening? NPS had set up sprinklers that were also spraying into the road (on the return – Potomac side). Meaning for a few hours, Hains Point was a ride-through bike splash water park!

Maybe they’ll be up on another segment this afternoon?

Nothing like running through a sprinkler on a 100-degree day to make ya feel like a kid again. Extra points if you kick both feet in the air as you splash through.

Golf course. They have a little snack bar right at the entrance.

There are rest rooms on the westside. It is a round sort of tan building on the golf course side of the road. But, ick.

I’m flabbergasted I’ve never noticed that fountain even though I’ve ridden many a loop.

I’ve ridden through the park when the pipes were acting as water jets spraying across the road. Sometimes the jets are aimed a little low so that the water smacks into the side of your helmet. I guess you can avoid direct contact by moving into the other lane, but where’s the fun in that?

Sprinklers were on this morning. You can see the mego pumps pulling water out of the river. There is a sign at the beginning that says “Wet Road.” Um, its a little more than that. I had forgotten, and was none too pleased as my computer bag and my handlebar camera were getting sprayed. And there is that issue of getting sprayed with river water. Ick.

It’s good training for the Nation’s Triathlon coming up in September. Gotta get used to that Potomac River mud.

I had a similar sprinkler experience heading across the Washington Monument grounds on yesterday’s morning commute — it was certainly a nice break from the 90-degree sun!
