    Anyone know when the trail portion linking Navy yard with the section north of that is due to be completed?

    Not the answer to your question, but Washcycle covered the announcement that funding for the EAST side from Benning Road to MD has come through and construction should begin next year. http://www.thewashcycle.com/2012/06/dc-area-wins-tiger-grant-for-anacostia-trail.html

    Great, once both sides are completed and linked it will make a great Anacostia loop ride.

    I’m using all southern perimeter routes to connect from CCT to Anancostia Riverwalk Trail. Is there a decent east-west corridor route bisecting the city south of K street?

    Today I explored both sides of the Anacostia, don’t know if it’s well known or not but you can loop both sides of the river between the Douglas Bridge and Benning Road. There are connections to both Pennsylvania Ave and Constitution Ave bridges as well. I expected to see a lot of cyclists on these new paths but they were deserted. The section northeast of thr Navy Yard is incomplete but you can easily detour via M St or even L St for less traffic to pick up the trail after a few blocks. The new multi-purpose bridge at Pennsylvania Ave on the west side of the river is well done. Once the connection to MD is completed, north of Benning Road, an additional MD to VA path along the rivers will be a great ride.

    Know of any ways to get to the Wilson Bridge from there that don’t entail military ID/bases?

    Not on the east side, no, other than Martin Luther King Blvd which I haven’t done but hear is nasty.

    I’ve gone through there once, taking MLK Jr Blvd -> Blue Plains Dr (very nice & straight downhill) -> DC Village Ln -> Oxen Hill Farm Trail -> Oxen Hill Rd which will put you at the top of that hill (it’s a doozy going up if you’re not mentally prepared for it) where a trail will lead you to the Wilson Bridge. My experience on MLK Jr Blvd was not very pleasant, as biking on the road seemed like it was taboo (lots of angry stares), there was little room for maneuvering, and there were lots of potholes.
