…since I brought my humor and good cheer to another thread with my first forum post, I guess I should say hello.
If you’re on bikeforums.net you might know my handle as it is the same there as it is here. I had no idea this forum existed until reading about it in a thread over there.
So here I am, and I’m actually kind of surprised at the volume and quality of discussion here! It is after all limited to one geographic area. I may actually make this my primary destination for discussing all things bike.
A little about me: I’m a newb to this forum, but not to other forums and not to cycling. I am a roadie who gets the bulk of his miles from commuting. I tried mountain biking but all the friendliness, teamwork and camaraderie made me confused and frightened. In my stable are two steel road bikes of 1999 and 2000 vintage, a 2004 CX (Kona), one fixed-gear, one single-speed and finally one MTB (which actually is a little small for me) which I keep around just in case the bike police come around to make sure I’m complying with bike laws. Oh, and there is a scandium road frame in there also that has been hanging around in “gonna build this up soon” status for about a year now.
My commute is currently from Alexandria West (close to Seminary Rd) out to Oakton VA, using W&OD from around the Bluemont Park tennis courts out to Old Courthouse in Vienna. I don’t want to give out any more details because as a super-hot early-forties dude with shaved legs and thinning hair, I have to worry about the stalkers. If you wave enthusiastically to me on the trail, the head nod I give in return, while barely perceptible, will certainly be heartfelt.
