It’s also available on Amazon to watch instantly in their video rental section.

Breaking Away has been available on Comcas…er, Xfinity OnDemand for a while now. I think I’ve watched it a half dozen times. I need to check out American Flyers though. I think it’s the same director or screenplay writer or whatever as Breaking Away.

Aw, all right, I’m gonna admit it – I love this movie – my DVD copy is about worn out – it has Eddie Merckx (who doesn’t like firing a starting pistol), Specialized bikes made out of steel (!), Kevin Costner in a Seven-Eleven kit (apparently, Costner hated riding the bike, but was athletic enough to make it look halfway authentic), grunting Soviet goombas (spin, you numbskulls!), Rae Dawn Chong and Alexandra Paul as the love interests. Breaking Away might be a better film, especially if you really love cycling, but there’s something about this movie, admittedly reeking of bad acting, which evokes the days of Greg Lemond’s greatness, the Coors Classic, etc. for me, that just draws me in time after time.

Don’t forget Quicksilver, staring Kevin Bacon from 1986.

And Premium Rush comes out in a few months–we should totally get together a happy hour meetup for that!!!

Nothing left to do but break out the white spandex, Walkman, some Bartles and Jaymes, and watch this turd classic.
