A good friend at work drives from PG County to the tourist lots near the Jefferson Memorial/Haines Point, and bikes from there to work on a folding bike. The ride ends up being about a mile each way — and no judgment from me. We bond over the riding he does and how beautiful (or not) the weather is! It doesn’t save much driving in traffic, mostly just gets him free parking…

A colleague at work from New Carrollton used to park on a particular street a few blocks from RFK where you’re allowed to park all day and ride to the Mall area on the East Capitol Street bike lanes, through the Capitol grounds, and down the PA Ave cycle track.

There are still spaces in Ward 6/Capitol Hill where parking is allowed all day on weekdays but they’re few and far between. I swear there’s maps going around Maryland of where all these zones are.
