I’ve never taken a bike on a bus around here but am thinking of a few places/times when it would be really useful (e.g., Rosslyn to Ballston in August with 100% humidity). My biggest fear is that the bus will drive off with my bike still on the front; I recognize that it makes sense to tell the driver where I intend to get off but more often than not I don’t know the name of the stop and sometimes I just like to decide on the fly so to speak (esp if I’m in an unfamiliar part of town). I’m also afraid the bus driver will forget what I told him/her.
I figure on quiet days/times I could sit near the front and let the driver know but during rush hour on very busy routes I think that may be difficult if not impossible.
Anyone have experience/advice on taking a bike on buses?
Thank you!
