I ended up adding about 20 minutes to my commute this morning trying to figure out to get around whatever is going on at the White House today. No less than 50 buses, most of which appeared to be military. Some duces. A bunch of cannons. Lots of sirens. And it seemed everything was closed between 17th & 15th from K-Street to down to Constitution. Anyone know what is going on and how long it will be happening?

For Prime Minister Cameron, and probably through tonight’s non-Head of State dinner for Prime Minister Cameron.

So it should be a clusterF all day. Sweet. Alternate route home, here I come.

Wow, glad I picked the Cherry Blossom route today.

I tried going around the Ellipse and two uniformed police started shouting “Sir, Sir!” at me. I went around the long way and then slalomed up the east-side sidewalk. I wonder how much those t-shirt vendors paid the DC Council to terminate the bike lane at the White House entrance?

Yah, I noticed they had fenced off the entryway down by 15th and Constitution last night to the Ellipse. Given the weather, I had been mad I couldn’t bike today, but now I’m partially happy.

That is all I have to say after navigating around this clusterf(*k on the way home.

I went through Rock Creek Park. It was buggy and full of joggers, but otherwise lovely.

I don’t go through Rock Creek on week days because it is open to traffic (unlike weekends). Isn’t that a little death defying?

I just mean the trail from Hains Point up to the zoo. Don’t worry, I don’t get between Maryland drivers and their homes if I can help it.

I like how they use black railings to block off the street – I want to give 3M a call and tell them that the Secret Service could use a sales call.

I’ve never been able to figure out the logic behind how they lay out those black gates on Penn. The only thing they seem to accomplish is bottlenecking people.
