ParticipantI don’t celebrate Christmas, but I guess I can ask Santa for something…
All I want is basic, minimal, consistent traffic enforcement for cyclists, drivers and pedestrians. People behave like animals because there’s no reason not to. Until there’s some kind of enforcement, great cycling/walking infrastructure is only the lipstick on the pig that is our local transportation reality.
Hugs and kisses.

ParticipantI wish that each time a bike is sold in Arlington County the new owner would leave the store with a bike map of Arlington County and a flyer (in English or Spanish) that contains the following information:
1. Where to find bike safety classes.
2. Where to find bike maintenance classes.
3. An introduction to Bike Arlington.
4. An introduction to WABA.
5. A link to this forum.ann

ParticipantA little cooperation from all of our regional stakeholders on how to get cyclists safely from one side of the Potomac to the other. Give me one good river crossing (and no, the 14th St Bridge crossing isn’t good, but it’s much closer than the other three).

ParticipantFor the regional or FABB list:
A way to get to places along Rt. 7/Leesburg Pike more easily by bike, and safer intersections along that road. Esp. the areas between Fairlington and Bailey’s Crossroads.
Elimination of the harsh “bump up” where the concrete changes to asphalt on Four Mile Run Trail near the 395 underpass.
More bike lanes, paths and safer ways to ride along Beauregard Street.
Capital Bikeshare stations for going between Shirlington, Potomac Yards, Columbia Pike and the Crystal City and Pentagon Metro Stations.
Eventual replacement of the lights on the 395 underpass.

ParticipantMy Arlington Infrastructure Wish List:
1. The Hoffman-Boston Connector
2. The new side path down the eastern end of Columbia Pike envisioned as part of the Pike Multimodal Project
3. The Columbia Pike Bicycle Boulevards
4. The Joyce St cycle track
5. A grade separated crossing of Shirlington Drive for the Four Mile Run Trail (perhaps as part of the bridge replacement?)December 22, 2011 at 6:12 pm #933915KLizotte
ParticipantI would add:
1) Cycling classes for all students in schools.
2) Cycling education as a requirement to obtain a drivers licence.
3) Standardized cycling regulations and infrastructure across all states (as exists for cars).
4) Lots more bike trails.
5) Grade separated MVT.
6) More funding for “complete streets” and ped/cycling projects.
7) More private cycling facilities (e.g., showers, indoor parking, storage facilities).
Abolishment of onstreet parking.
9) A pedestrian and cyclist friendly Columbia Pike.
10) More cyclists and fewer cars on the roads. -
