ParticipantMy only concern is people would try to pass 3 feet to the right of me.
JUST KIDDING!!!
You’re right though… it would be nice if we got better publicity for the law.

Agreed, though at this point I’d settle for WMATA bus drivers following the law (as in most cases, I find that ART bus drivers to be polite and courteous and to pass with ample room).

ParticipantI have gotten to know all the WMATA bus drivers along my commute. They haven’t given me grief in a year or more… It is the Dillons Commuter buses that care very little for my life…. or the lives of anyone around them. I call the company and report them every time they drive carelessly. They’re nice enough to put the phone number on most of the buses.

ParticipantWe’d definitely have to adjust that message for local audiences – I don’t even want to know how big people would assume 1.5 meters is.

So what you’re saying is that the picture would have an SUV, the driver would be talking on the phone, the arrow would be pointing down and the bike would be underneath?
My most sincere apologies for that comment. I will regret posting it for moments… (or not).
Love,
Pete

I’ve gotten to know all the WMATA bus drivers on my morning commute, but there is only one bus. On the way home, there are just too many on Columbia Pike. (The OmniRide driver I usually see on the way home knows me, though.)

ParticipantWhile on the bus subject.. noticed yesterday they’re refitting a lot of the FFX Connector busses with new 3 bike racks on the front instead of 2 bike ones.

Except that isn’t the sharing — cyclist on the corner of the road and sharing laterally — that gives drivers “problems”. They have problems sharing sequentially.

ParticipantThis popped up on my Facebook wall this morning.
I completely agree with it.

ParticipantI’m still not sure that giving these people a kitten is a good idea.

ParticipantI think if I were to flash them the reaction would go far beyond “unexpected” and delve straight into “shock and horrified.” Sort of my reaction if I were to receive a kitten.
Seriously, I just wave and smile like I’m taking that victory lap at the Miss America pageant, then I get away. For me, confrontation is not a winning strategy even though in the heat of the moment I’m mad as hell.

You obviously haven’t seen the kind of damage a kitten can do.

ParticipantI’m more of a wave and blow ’em a kiss type myself.
