Nice composition of the photo while riding. And the way the trail disappears into the glare is really a nice effect. I don’t know much about shoving U-locks in one’s pants, as I don’t tend to do it much or ever, but this is a really nice photo from an artistic standpoint.

It’s actually just a still frame-grab from the video. I have my GoPro video camera mounted to the handle bar (or on a chest mount, or helmet mount, or on the front fork). I got home and was like “I have got to find that wierdo and post the picture!!!!”

Regardless, love the photo. Wonder if the wife would like me to get a pair of those pants . . .

haha. I don’t know how those pants are comfortable even without the lock shoved down there.

Please explain how prey-tell shoving a giant steel U-Lock down the back of your purple jeans is comfortable????

Maybe BLUE jeans would be more comfortable. :) I surprised you notice the lock with all those colors glinting in the sunshine.

So what’s with the trail just there? Are they planning to widen it now they’ve put the barrier in? With your thread title of ‘How is this comfortable??’ I initially thought you were talking about the usual really bumpy ride on rock creek!

I personally like to wear my chain lock around my waist. It’s 8 lbs but quite comfy.

I don’t know what their ultimate plans are. However I wouldn’t be holding my breath on them widening it. The barrier is nice, I feel much less like I’m about to die. But it is a problematic section since it just barely wide enough for two-way ped/bike traffic.

I love it when people ride in whatever they want. I used to always kit up for a ride. These days if I’m not going too far, I go casual and ride what I happen to be wearing. It is kinda nice.

On topic: I’m guessing it is more comfy than riding with the u-lock in the front pocket.

The tags for this thread are fantastic. Also I just use my belt to hang my u-lock if I’m riding around town, I keep it out of “nature’s pocket”.

Usually I gotta go to Vegas for this kind of entertainment.

Doesn’t look too bad. If you don’t have a bracket on your bike for your lock (does anyone actually use those?) and no bags, then it’s probably the best option for rattle-free lock transport. Sometimes what I’ll do is wrap a cable lock around my chest (like an ammo belt) and attach the u-lock at the bottom, where it sits on my back. It doesn’t move around too much.

Met a guy using a 15 pound on-guard chain lock as a belt last night. His pants were NOT going to fall down. He also mentioned that his bike was NOT going to be stolen. :D

Nothing accessorizes shants quite like a hardened chain belt secured with a disk lock.
Actually much comfier than lugging the weight in a pack.

I do on my crappy weather metro commuter.
