ParticipantUnfortunately, our car is currently full. We had a hell of a time finding accomodations, and that was a few months ago. all the hotels in Sailsbury seem to book up VERY early for this. It’s my first time, and we’re heading down friday night, crashing in a fleabag motel and doing the ride, then driving back the next day. Good luck, maybe we’ll see you there! (though likely not, i heard there are tons of people)

Has anyone camped the night before and do the ride?
A few years back, my wife and I did the Salvation Army Camping thing… http://www.seagullcentury.org/sleep.html#camping
It wasn’t bad. Only 1-2 miles from the start area, so we just rode down from there in the morning. We camped on a high school football field and they opened up the gymnasium locker room for bathroom and showers and stuff. I would recommend that if you’re up for camping. It unfortunately does not lend itself to tip-top performance on Saturday, but it’s a cheap, and close, if indeed they still have space.
If you’ll be parking on campus, I recommend heading to the lots nearby the dining hall on the west side of campus. There always seemed to be lots of spaces back there.
We’ve done it for the past three years, but I don’t think we’re going to this year. Good luck!

ParticipantI haven’t figured out logistics yet. I likely will be bumming a ride from someone. If I find a spare space, I’ll share info with you.
Rock on!

ParticipantFWIW, don’t despair if you don’t have a room yet. I’ve done this ride a load of times, sometimes well planned, sometimes last minute. On the last minute occasions, I’ve frequently been lucky in that last minute (i.e., last week) cancellations open rooms up. Worst case scenario had me staying 45 minutes away in Delaware, once.

ParticipantYeah, have been looking at other camp sites that are 30 – 60mins away. Might just settle for one. Will have to check on the weather first though.

ParticipantWe’re staying in the state/national campsites on Assateague Island. Never done either the century or the camping arrangement before, so we’ll see. But, may be an option for you. I’m just along for the ride, so to speak, so don’t know specific details.

Take bug spray! Between the mosquitos and the green flies they’ll pick you up and carry you away on a bad day.

ParticipantThat was exactly my thought when I read river side camping as an advertisement for one of the camping sites.
