ParticipantWow! It is so super awesome of you to buy the first round! I don’t have to wear those god awful bike shoes, right? Frankly, I don’t think I can ride in heels so I may leave Spartacus at home.
Best wishes,
AnnMay 25, 2011 at 12:42 pm #926133Dirt
ParticipantWe should take over the patio at Jay’s Saloon. That would make me happy for an hour.
Great idea, Mark.
Good idea with the shoes, Ann. I don’t think Spartacus would want to be seen with you while you’re wearing heels. THE HORROR!!!
God awful bike shoes rule!!!!

ParticipantI’m always up for happy hour in theory, though with kids and a weird work schedule it’s sometimes hard to actually make it to one. Unless it’s Kids Happy Hour at the Reef in Adams Morgan on Fridays. Then you can pretty much just expect I’ll be there.

+1 for Jay’s! I had the opportunity to check this place out for the first time last week. Great space and the food is well priced!

ParticipantI love the idea – if the timing works out I’m there. Would Jay’s have a problem with my 1 yr tagging along?

ParticipantNope, Jay’s is friendly to everyone.

ParticipantBrilliant. I vote for a Wednesday.

Participant@Dirt- god awful bike shoes are the instrument of the devil.
Since Mr. Blacknell is buying, any day except Tuesday is good for me.
Best wishes,

ParticipantI could do this. A dive bar huh?
May 25, 2011 at 8:30 pm #926159Mark Blacknell
ParticipantJay’s is a total dive. And I’ve loved it for years. It helps balance out what Clarendon has turned into. Food and beer are cheap, people are cool. It is bike-friendly, dog-friendly, and kid-friendly (well, they won’t kick them out). However, one of the things I am proudest of it for is that it allowed me to witness a bar fight over . . . the Electoral College.

Okay, do we want to set this up for 6pm on Wednesday, June 8th, at Jay’s Saloon & Grille?
And obviously ACC is paying for the first round. Unless she shows up on Spartacus in 4″ heels. Then we’ll just consider that her in-kind donation of entertainment.

ParticipantWell seeing that I’m in the Fairfax Hinterlands, my attendance is unlikely. Sounds like fun, though!

ParticipantIt’s not the heels that are giving me trouble, it’s the way the damn sundress keeps riding up. I will be there, promptly at six. We will discuss the drink order shortly thereafter. A fight over the Electoral College? Only in DC.
Best wishes,

ParticipantAh, FFX, I’m sure we can cobble together a scholarship beer program for the disadvantaged . . .

Participant+2 for Jays
May 26, 2011 at 2:44 am #926174DaveK
ParticipantI’ll come if I’m in town. Always meant to check out Jays but I’m never in Arlington after hours. I may wear my Groucho mask just in case.
