ParticipantI think Rosslyn should be a top priority, as should a (single?) station at National. Both would provide a substantial improvement to the network, in terms of filling in gaps (DC – Rosslyn – Crystal City) and important connections (National – Crystal City).

ParticipantI’d like to see bikestations at Ballston (a important hub for buses as well as for metro) and at Clarendon. I can see a lot of great possibilities for riding between those two areas if there were bike stations in both places. Courthouse would also be great. (Shirlington would be nice too, but I think the orange corridor should have priority.)

ParticipantAgreed – the Rosslyn-to-Ballston corridor seems like a great (and obvious) place for some Bikeshare stations, especially with the bike lanes on Wilson/Clarendon. Shirlington would be great too.
In fact, why are there no locations here? All the Arlington locations look like they’re in the Pentagon-Crystal City area.

ParticipantStart with every Orange Line station from Rosslyn to East Falls Church, then start filling in the gaps with stations at or near major shopping areas in between. Then do stations at or near major shopping areas close to the 4 Mile Run path — Shirley Park, Shirlington — with the goal of enabling most anyone in Arlington to move around the entire county in short hops.

Participantor somewhere really near there. A lot of those guys come from Europe and would love to hop on a bike and explore but there’s nothing nearby.
I would absolutely love to see it around the corner on Mass Ave in front of the Cato Inst. :p
Thanks

ParticipantI quite like both of your ideas, Badassador (tho’ for different reasons
).

ParticipantHow about at the Lubber Run Center? I’m amazed that there are no stations in North Arlington. I wonder why?

ParticipantI would LOVE to see a bike station at the Ballston Metro stop as well as at or near the Virginia Hospital Center. Many employees at the hospital take the Metro and ART bus to commute to work. It would be nice to be able to Bike between the hospital and Metro rather than waiting around for the ART bus.

ParticipantI am disappointed that the stations don’t go very far North in DC. They should extend them that way. In particular, we need one at Connecticut & Nebraska Aves NW for Politics & Prose bookstore & the restaurants. The nearest stations are a mile away! Also, we need one near the Friendship Heights metro station for the many stores & restaurants there. Takoma Park and Silver Spring need stations too! And the Rosslyn area. I like the coverage so far, but these additions are necessary for it to be even more useful.

ParticipantWest Falls Church Metro, Dunn Loring Metro, and Vienna Metro.

ParticipantPutting them at Metro stations doesn’t do any good unless they are also located at locations someone wants to ride to from the Metro.
I recommend filling in the existing gaps in the system before extending it out to places like Dunn Loring and Vienna. Unless a Metro stop has at least 5-10 other stations within a mile or so, it won’t do much good. For Rosslyn/Courthouse, I recommend placing a stations no more than 1000 feet apart.

ParticipantI would put one either inside the Navy Yard, or just outside the gate (M between 6th and 7th, SE). There are a lot of people who walk or ride shuttles between the navy yard and the navy yard metro. Also if just outside the gate (for security reasons) would be nice for people parking for Nats games at the various parking lots up and down M street.

ParticipantThe Columbia Pike corridor desperately needs Bike Share Stations!! Let’s start with Columbia Pike at Walter Reed and S. Glebe Roads!

ParticipantColumbia Pike would be great! A lot of us use ART to get to the Wilson Blvd area from the Pike, but we’d love to be able to get there on our own schedule with bikeshare. Of course we could easily use bikeshare to get to the Pentagon City and Crystal City bike locations from here too.
Also, Shirlington and Four Mile Run.
