My office recently moved from 16th and Eye NW to 20th St and K NW. Today, I rode it for the first time. (I commuted frequently to the old location.)
It is pretty much the same commute other than taking M St. from 15th St. to 21st St. I probably should have turned left on 19th St, but I couldn’t get in the lane (bad planning on my part).
I took M St. because of the so-called bike lane, which I’ve often used in the evening to go home (I usually go up CCT). This morning though, the bike lane was occupied with cars, delivery trucks, etc., so it was a total waste of time, and I rode in the car traffic.
I don’t have a problem riding with cars, but I’m wondering (a) is M St. like that *every* morning, and (b) don’t the police ticket vehicles parked in bike lanes? I know that is unlawful, and I’m sure DC can use the revenue.
Seems like easy pickings to me…
I’m not sure where you’re coming from…I’m coming from Petworth. I don’t take M .. I come down 11th to R to 21st. I’ve heard M isn’t great.

Of course the ultimate tune to hammer to while riding is the fourth movement of Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony (see the semi-drafting scene in “Breaking Away”).
Now that I’m a bike rider I need to watch that movie again. I remember it being good (circa 1980).

Apologies accepted. And it’s always hard to tell on forums what people actually mean. Humor is so much harder when typed out to people that really don’t know you.
lol, and speaking of weird humor. How about that London Bridge prize that awards people for crashing on the ice (or in any other conditions). Riding safely?? I guess my biggest problem is that I am NOT a daily commuter (so I don’t quite get the concept) and would never even think of riding a bike in situations that increase my chance of crashing (or even worse). I figure the odds are stacked against me as it is. No need to increase it.
Maybe I’ll just look into peoples eyes at the end of year happy hour, and the largest, most circular eye will win the prize.
I can understand your ” why would I increase my risk” comment.
And humor doesn’t always work out so well on the keyboard (or the forum). Ride on! (In large circles)Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

ParticipantJust this week I saw a guy walking down the street with the Nut above swinging on a string. I wondered what on earth it was. Know I know!

ParticipantAt least someone mentions bands I’ve *heard of*, thanks Emm !
Might have to get a speaker -when I’m alone on the trail at night I want to sneak stealthily by but maybe the way to handle it is blasting Taylor Swift!

Despite efforts to erase his legacy for the sake of progress or “beautification” ol’ Dan is still looking down on us…
So I’m really excited about this one, because it was a chance find. With Dan having passed and most of his tags painted over, I didn’t think I’d be able to share one of his. But this afternoon when I went looking for Frozemon along the C&O, I saw all the new-blood graffiti and was thinking about ol’ Dan. As I passed under Key I looked up and saw it! Cool ‘Disco’ Dan lives on!
Cool!

Duly noted on the difficulty of meeting up enroute… That said, is there an estimated ETA for Navy Yard? I may be well enough tomorrow to be social, but not do the full ride.

FYI – the first DC Bluestone Lane Coffee location, at the new library at 23rd and L NW, has it’s soft open today, with a full open tomorrow. Only drinks today – they got their inspection passed at 4pm Friday and placed an order a 4:05 for delivery and prep today to be able to serve food starting tomorrow.
Coffee and drink menus below. Please note, they are cashless. Also…tons of bike racks out front.
I went with an iced mocha. Quite good – Lindi approved.
Cool. I was there at the new library yesterday. .it’s gorgeous. They will be back for books, coffee, and food!
