I’ve never had an issue on Washington.

As an alternate around the under-repair sections of the Custis Trail, folks may want to consider Wilson Boulevard. There is a section of Wilson parallel to the under-repair sections of Custis which now have bike lanes both east- and west-bound.

If you’re headed east-bound on Custis, head over to Wilson when you hit Bon Air park; take Wilson east until George Mason Drive; take George Mason north (also has bike lane) until you cross over I-66; hang an immediate right after I-66 onto a Custis Trail access ramp.

You should be able to avoid all current Custis Trail work if you take this alternate route, while remaining in a bike lane.
