I have a suggestion about parking off Iliff Street instead of the post office. Your idea of riding down the asphalt path adjacent to Gallows is reasonable.

I’ve ridden down this portion of the Gallows Road on my way to Cottage Street and the hill is fairly steep and it’s easy to pick up more speed than you want coming down it.

I’d love to get up some angst to be offended, being a former nurse and all, and trust me my uniforms didn’t look anything like *that* but I just can’t.

I’d be a hypocrite. Honest to goodness I just rolled in from the beach where I spent a week riding a rusting, no brakes, Flintstone bike with a wobbly wheel. Out there it would be odd to wear anything but board shorts and a bathing suit when riding a bike.

All I can say is I’m an old nurse, I can put air in bike tires, but when I do I’m probably sweating and decked out in god awful bike shoes and Lord knows, no makeup. I hope they sell some bikes. Me? I’m waiting for the beach volleyball dude version of that ad.

I see about twenty yards ahead of me and about a yard on either side.

I remember the last time I was down there the guide said the runway where the shuttle landed was populated by lots of snakes.

Confession: this week I’m riding a beat up beach cruiser I talked a nice lady into renting me by the day instead of by the hour. I mean come on– renting by the hour, how far can I get in an hour? It is rusting, has no gears and the brakes—what brakes? But all that aside, even riding the Flintstone bike I obey things like STOPLIGHTS. Unlike the father and 12 year old son on road bikes next to me. Dad insisted that kid blow through the redlight. Yeah, at the beach where everyone drives super careful.

FWIW– A beach cruiser is a blast to ride in flip flops and board shorts.
