Weekly Weekend MD Ride on SUNDAY: Less Miles, More Metro, Beer

After week away for my son’s wedding (it was awesome!) I am ready to resume our regularly scheduled riding this Sunday, 1/26. In response to requests for a shorter route, I have put together a route from the Glenmont Metro to the Brookeville Beer Farm of about 15 miles each way. I plan to ride to the Metro and would love company for those who would like more miles: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31743052.

The plan is this:

Leave Takoma Metro at 9:30
Leave French School (Woodbine & Beach Dr.) at 10
Leave Glenmont Metro (corner of Glenallan & Georgia) at 11. If you take the Metro, please account for Sunday train schedules to be at Glenmont before 11. I will wait 10 minutes or so if a train is scheduled to arrive by 11:10, but the group can’t wait much longer.

Feel free to mix and match and take the Metro one way and ride the other way. The total mileage from Takoma is about 60 miles.

Our destination is the Brookville Beer Farm: https://www.brookevillebeerfarm.com/, which opens at noon. In addition to a good selection of beers, they have pizza and other snacks and a seafood food truck.

Let me know if you are interested. If I don’t get any commitments to meet at the Metro, I may change the route. Hope to see folks on Sunday!

I’m interested! I don’t live too far from the Takoma metro so may join you from the beginning. I’m also thinking about combining this with the Lunar New Year ride that is also happening Sunday afternoon. The timing should work out since that ride is starting from The Mall at 1 p.m., so those folks should arrive at The Block ~2:30. If we arrive at the brewery by ~12:30, that’s enough time to get a beer (or two), and then it’s 16 miles/~90 minutes from the brewery to The Block. Takoma Metro –> Beer Farm –> The Block is a total of ~38 miles (then it’s ~14 miles to the Kennedy Center for the latter half of the Lunar New Year ride).
