I was just going through my parks to try to see what I’d done. I noticed a few places where I wrote #Park vs. #Parks. I changed the ones I saw to Parks. Does it make any difference?

@sszibler Folger Park, Lincoln Park, Anacostia Park, Meridian Hill, etc., fall under the umbrella of National Capital Parks (US-0654).

16 is what I get! Did Sligo Creek count? Maybe I’m missing one on my list.

Sligo Creek is M-NCPPC (as is Rock Creek Park outside the District), so it’s not on the list. Matthew Henson State Park is. Ride on the Matthew Henson trail and collect a point.  😀

I’m still not sure if this falls under US-0654 National Capitol Parks or Rock Creek Park and if it would then be a separate find. Haven’t checked to see if it has a yellow dot yet.

1/26/25 Freedom hill park in maybe Vienna? I have no idea how to use the tool linked to at the beginning of this contest to check whether a particular park counts, so I’m just posting this in case it does

So my understanding of Fort Slocum, Fort Totten, Fort Stevens etc. is that they are not POTA parks (not on the POTA map as yellow dots)…but they are civil war forts! so you can use that for #civilwarforts

No idea whether it counts – but I’m sure I increased my chances by taking the pic & posting it rather than not 😁🤷🏻

Ok I just reread the rules. I haven’t figured out how to use the tool, but I saw the “FEDERAL & STATE PARKS” rule. So this won’t count. I’ll keep my eyes open for the other kind going forward.

I didn’t see anything about a bike needing to be in the pic. Is that right, @arlcxrider? No bike needed?
