According to multiple pages on the internet, February is National Library Lover’s Month. Since I agree that libraries are awesome, to celebrate, I’m sponsoring a related prize. Beginning February 1 (and through the end of Freezing Saddles), once per day, visit an active public library, take a picture of said library, use hashtag library on your ride and photo, and win. Each unique library only counts once.
Rider with the most different libraries visited will win an appropriately themed prize.
Some FAQ:
- Do I need to go into the library? No, though of course I encourage people to do so if they can! However, especially with libraries cutting back on weekend hours or people having other obligations that might make it hard to visit a library during operating hours, a photo of the outside suffices.
- What’s an “active public” library? One that is currently active (so something like the Apple Store at the old Carnegie Library building in DC or the recently closed NASA library at Goddard would not count) and is open to the public without too many hoops to jump through (so something like the Georgetown University library would be OK because they have open visitor hours, but the National Postal Museum Library would not because you have to book an appointment).
- Wait, how many per day? One.
- How many times can I count a specific library? Once.
- I have another question? Then ask! (preferably on Discord since I’ll see that far more quickly than here)
