Whoa. I only *drive* about 2,500-3,000 miles a year.
I’m flabbergasted that you:
1) Get to work at 3:45 am. Note: I don’t usually go to bed till 1:00 am.
2) Bike to work and still manage to arrive at 3:45.
3) Ride daily distances that I only see on the *weekends* during the warm weather months.
You should figure out how many incremental calories you’ve burned (that is, above what you would have burned taking metro or driving in).
Can you eat whatever the heck you want, all the time?!
I eat like a horse, and I’ve lost 50lbs in 4 years. I’m also type 2 diabetic, and given the riding I don’t have to take meds although I do have to closely watch it still.
I wish I only drove 2-3 k a year! Typical Day:
Up at 12:15, shower, dress, load bike on car.
Leave house 1:00 am. Stop at 7-11 for coffee
Drive 55 miles from house to Reston Park & Ride (Sunset Hills) arrive 2:00-2:15am
Bike from Reston to Downtown. Arrive work usually 3:30-3:45am (22 miles)
Leave work 2:00’ish if possible, Ride back to Reston. Arrive 3:30’ish
Bike on car, 55 miles home. Arrive by 5 at latest usually. Dinner, spend time awake, in bed 8’ish but usually later
Lather, rinse and repeat
To give you an idea, my 2007 car now has 150k miles on it
