geez, why didn’t we recruit one of these guys for BAFS? The current leader has more miles than Team Octothorpe.

I call the Steven Abraham guy for Team 13 Lucky Prisms. His year-to-date is 8,042.7 miles. Holy crap.

They are trying to break the 75,000-odd miles in a single year record, correct? Something like a minimum of 200 miles EVERY DAY. 😮

    Holy moly.

Even with Strava, aren’t there problems with verification? While these people may be honest personally, the lack of true verification makes it difficult to certify the record. No one is going to personally verify every ride, and with Strava, someone could put the GPS on a car and drive around. Even if these people never do this, someone can always make that claim or criticism and there isn’t a good answer. I’d hope that no one cheats but people have cheated for less recognition in the past. People sometimes do crazy and dishonest things in competitions, in almost every field (cycling, baseball, business, accounting, politics).

Hey, I’m ahead of one of the three officially going for the year record! :p William Pruitt needs to step up his game! (As do I, I’m behind my handicap. Sorry team two.)

http://thebikeshow.net The latest episode of this podcast has an interesting interview with Steve Abraham. He speaks briefly about the problem of verification. He wants to be seen on the roads by fans, various onlookers for this reason, verification. He and Searvogel have a lot of support, so there would have to be a lot of co-conspirators to get away with cheating I think.
