I decided to join Freezing Saddles this year to encourage me to ride through the winter.  Today I will be testing out handwarmers in my new gloves, and electric socks to see if I can keep my extremities warm.  I’m new to the Forum, haven’t used Strava in awhile, never used Discord (still working on that), so just signing up for Freezing Saddles today feels like an accomplishment!

@barbara-mccann, I can relate to the extra warming supplies.  Last night, I went out with a heated base layer covered by a heated sweatshirt covered by a heated vest covered by a jacket (and that’s not counting two pairs of heated pants, heated socks, heated insoles, heated gloves, and a heated balaclava).  And quickly realized that with it only 40 degrees, I was going to have to turn much of that stuff off or I was going to develop heat stroke.  😆

Good Morning,  I’m new to Freezing Saddles and looking forward to the competition.  How do the teams work?  When will they be published?  Wil I be able to communicate with members of my team?

Hi there! It’s my first time doing Freezing Saddles. Having some trouble keeping my feet warm this winter, but we’re getting through it!

You’ll get placed on a team in mid January; the date usually coincides with the opening happy hour. Team captains will contact everyone to get things sorted out. Communications on the Forum, Discord, Strava, or whatever folks decide. But you start riding on Jan 1, before the team assignments happen.

I’m Iain. First timer. I’m hoping this will get me outside more in the colder, darker months.

But really, I’m psyched! Let’s go get some miles (and maybe a new pair of winter gloves)

Hello! This is Owen’s mom, posting on his behalf so he has a post here in order to register for FS2026! He is excited to be motivated to keep up his bike commute to high school through the winter months–he’s so proud of his mileage so far since August and that he’s already biked through snow and freezing temps.

Hi all, I’m coming back for my third year, but busted a rib in the middle of last years fun on a donut ride (my favorite event) and dropped, so really only my second full year.  See y’all out there.  Pat
