Amtrak to OTET

Has anyone taken Amtrak to either Cincinnati or Cleveland for the express purpose of riding the OTET? Did you use a folding bicycle or a full sized?  Is departure from Union station preferable to Rockville or Alexandria?  After arrival, did you just hop on the trail for an early morning? Did you go North or South?

I do not know anything about biking in Ohio. The only places I have taken bikes on Amtrak was in Virginia. Three of my four rides were on the NEC trains, which have a kind of bike rack.

 

The other ride was on a long distance train. Got on at Alexandria, off at Richmond.  They put my road bike in the baggage car for me.  You need to make sure you are going to a station where checked baggage can be removed, but I think that is true of any large city station.

The Amtrack employees in ALX are very helpful IME. I am not sure about Union Station.
