FYI:

I've heard that a crew will be removing the steel plate and excavating the hole on the Custis Trail located about 100 yards from Lee Highway at Johnson Street near marker 12. Once this is done another crew will be running water in the hole to see if the water filters through the joints of the storm sewer below. This work will begin on Thursday, August 12th at 10:00am.

Traffic will be detoured around the workspot and no word has been given on how long it will take. Check back in the future for updates.

It was painted up this morning when I rode by. I figured something was going on with that. Thank you for the update, sir.

Steel plate is gone. I'll resist the "have bike, will whine" tendency and say that the job is pretty dang good. The new patch was really soft yesterday. I chalk that up to it being really hot and the pavement being fresh. Just be aware as you cross it that if the day is hot, the pavement will be soft.
